WESTMINSTER,
LONDON, SW. 1.
17th October, 1924
with reference to your letter No.56038/21 of the
13th January, 1922, relating to the temporary increase payable on the Hong Kong pension of Sir. F. T. Piggott, having regard
to the limit of £1000 per annum, from all sources which a
pensioner may draw (a limit as fixed by the Government of
Hong Kong) I have the honour to ask for confirmation that in making our calculations in this connection Sir.F.T.Piggott's
pensions and increases should be regarded on a yearly basis.
If they are to be considered on a monthly basis a reduction
of his Hong Kong increase will possibly be necessary for
the current month, as the rate to which the rupee may rise
before his total pensions and increases exceed £1000 per
s.d annum is 1/6.0792 only and the rupee is now being quoted in
the neighbourhood of 1/6a.
I have the honour to be,
Sil,
Your obedient Servant,
wah wicthert
for Crown Agents.
The Under Secretary of State,
Colonial Office.
